Pearl Guide

Pearl Care

Real pearls are precious and timeless,  but you have to take care of them in order to last for years.

Pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.  Their luster can be dulled by hairspray, lotion and perfume.  Wear them often and your body’s natural oils will keep them lustrous.  Store them separately from other pieces of jewelry to avoid getting them scratched.  Pearls are an organic gem; they need to breathe so, it’s best if you store them in the silk bag enclosed in your order.  Pearls, especially pearl necklaces, should be stored flat.  A jewelry box with compartments is ideal.

Cleaning
Pearls should never be cleaned in an ultrasonic or steam cleaner.  It’s safe to use warm, soapy water for occasional, thorough cleaning.  If the pearls are strung, be sure the string is completely dry before wearing them.

For routine care, it’s best to wipe cultured pearls with a very soft, clean cloth after each wearing.
